At Watts Chapel Baptist Church, we believe that the foundation of a child's faith is one of the most important things we can nurture. Our 226 Kids program is designed to provide a safe, fun, and engaging environment where children can begin to understand and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Whether they are 3 to 5 years old or in 1st to 3rd grade, we aim to cultivate a love for God and an understanding of His Word that will stay with them for life.

What is 226 Kids?

226 Kids is our children’s ministry for kids aged 3 to 5 years old and 1st to 3rd grade. We chose the name 226 Kids from Proverbs 22:6, which calls parents and the Church to “train up a child in the way he should go.” We take this command seriously and believe that by providing children with a strong biblical foundation, we are setting them up for a life filled with God’s truth, love, and purpose.

Our goal is to teach the Bible in an age-appropriate way that will resonate with each child’s heart. We use Bible stories, interactive lessons, songs, games, and crafts to make learning fun, memorable, and impactful. As they grow in their understanding of God's Word, we also teach them the values of kindness, respect, love, and service to others.

What Does 226 Kids Look Like?

3 to 5-Year-Olds (Preschool)
For our younger group of children, we focus on introducing them to the Bible in simple and interactive ways. Through age-appropriate stories, songs, and activities, we help the kids understand that God loves them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever. Each week, they learn basic biblical truths in a way that captures their imagination and curiosity.

• Bible Stories: We tell Bible stories from both the Old and New Testaments, focusing on God's love, Jesus' teachings, and the stories of biblical heroes.

• Songs and Music: Singing is a great way to reinforce Bible lessons and help children remember the truths they are learning.

• Creative Play: Through arts, crafts, and games, kids have fun while exploring God’s Word in a hands-on way.

1st to 3rd Graders (Elementary)
For our older group, we dive deeper into the Bible, teaching them stories and lessons that will help them grow in their faith. These kids begin to understand the bigger picture of God’s plan and are introduced to foundational Christian principles like salvation, prayer, and serving others. We also encourage them to start developing their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

• Interactive Bible Lessons: We focus on both Old and New Testament stories and explore what they mean for kids today.

• Bible Memory Verses: Encouraging children to memorize Bible verses is key to building a strong biblical foundation.

• Activities and Discussion: Kids will have the opportunity to participate in group discussions, games, and activities that help them apply what they are learning to their everyday lives.

Why is 226 Kids So Important?

We understand the vital role we play in helping children build a relationship with God from an early age. The early years are when children are forming lifelong impressions of who God is and how He relates to them. We want to make sure that kids not only know Bible stories but also understand God's love for them and the importance of living out their faith.

Our 226 Kids ministry also provides a sense of community and belonging for our children. We encourage the kids to build relationships with one another, forming friendships that help them grow in their faith as they become part of the church family.
